(I already mentioned this, in here, a few days ago, in a comment - but, because I know a lot of people who come here use Android devices and because I think it's something important enough to create a topic of its own, to make sure that everyone knows about this, here it goes the hyperlink, again...)

This should come as no surprise to everyone conscious enough of the importance of using *only* Free Software. But, for the more naïve and those less aware of the dangers of using proprietary one, this is a very good example of what happens when you start adding proprietary software on top of free one...

It, obviously, compromises the security of your whole systems and devices.

So what? Nevertheless I will buy Android-phone. Because it is the best available choice for me.

This is a two year old overhyped story. So the carriers know slightly more about your phone than they already did. That's what you get for buying a phone from them instead of just getting one unlocked. *Shrug*
Just run a custom rom, which I'd assume most people here are doing anyway. Problem solved.

I don't think it's a hoverhyped thing. I think is an underhyped thing when people say "shrug I will get one anyway, I don't care they spy on me".
I hope running a FLOSS rom (Cm and Replicant) is enough to protect a little bit more... But as I have said in another thread, I don't trust my phone anything really important and private. :P
Since it was old news, I don't know if it was worth making a new thread, but thanks to Fernando_Negro anyway, for posting such relevant information. IQCarrier is not a "dismissible" thing, it's a privacy invasion danger.

Old story, but if you're wondering if your device has this problem, use
this:
