I know about this tool -Aklis told me about it long ago-, but I don't
think that the process of filtering non-free software can be automated.
Only if you document your package in a certain way it can be processed
to test it's freedom, and as programs are written by people, only
people can really find out if they are free.

This automated tests can have some utility though, as they can find
some pieces of non-free software in large collections of packages. But
the whole collection must be manually reviewed sooner or later.

Manually checking the licenses files takes much much time.

With software like Fossology the checking of the licenses files become much more easier and fast.

Completely agree with you, until there isn't any AI intelligent enough, and that will take a long time, it's better to trust on human brains before programs that doesn't see after a 1 or a 0, and more when it compromise the freedom of the society.

I have worked on artificial neural networks and there's a lot to do with them, and this has given me and idea, but I don't know if I have enough programming knowledge to make it real...

At least in this, the machines will not be able to replace us. We will continue existing :))

No at all until the creation of a perfect reply of the human brain on a computer program... :)

I think that the problem of this kind of programs is that you can never be completely sure of their results, due to this, as Ruben says, eventually a human eye has to prove it.
