I see drm:radeon error messages on boot up and shutdown of my system. I do not see issues with my system other than the error messages scrolling across the screen.
Example
"[ 7.748410] [drm:radeon_gart_bind] *ERROR* trying to bind memory to unitialized GART !
[ 7.757018] [drm:radeon_ttm_backend_bind] *ERROR* failed to bind 1280 pages at 0x00000000
[ 7.761551] [TTM] Couldn't bind backend.
"
I've just booted Taranis RC1 amd64 from an USB flash drive and received a similar messages:
These four lines were repeated around 750 times - they poured like rain while booting. I'm using a
Radeon HD 2600 video card. Otherwise everything works as expected - no 3D acceleration, but stable and in full display resolution.
Check out issue http://trisquel.info/en/issues/2386. I was able to stop the error messages by removing "quiet splash" from the file /boot/grub/grub.cfg. I would consider those steps a workaround until the issue can be resolve.
Fixed in trisquel-base-data-4.0-1, which blacklists the radeon kernel module. Since that module is deblobbed it doesn't seem to work properly, and using the system without it (and with only the userspace Xorg driver) works better.
The error is now back in Trisquel 5.5 and Trisquel 6.0
