I believe AndrewT is right and i find quidam's answer absurd: only addresses topic 3) and in a nonsense way. Maybe he meant to say "The games license is okay, as you can circumvent the non-commercial restriction by charging for an aggregate of the game and scummvm." (the games need scummvm to be played). If he meant this, it would be just an illusion. Forget scummvm, it has nothing to do with it: the games are obnoxiously restricted.

These games still exist in the current 5.5 version. Please stop them from being included in Trisquel 6.0. Scummvm should be removed too, if there aren't free games for it.

I sent an email to the FSF Compliance Lab but i'm still waiting for an answer.

Sorry, i misread the license and consequently quidam's words in a certain way. But i still don't understand him. "The scummvm license is okay" should read "The games license is okay"... anyway, if i can't charge any price i want for a copy of an individual program, that program is nonfree. And that is the case of these two games.

Titel:Nonfree games» [GFSD Issue] Package scummvm is almost entirely used for the purpose of running proprietary software

1) Changing the title to just make it a bit more specific.

So yes, while the program itself may be free the whole purpose of it is to act as a virtual machine to run other (almost always nonfree) games. According to the Ubuntu package description:

The game data of two games compatible with ScummVM is included in Debian. These are:
- Beneath a Steel Sky (package name: beneath-a-steel-sky)
- Flight of the Amazon Queen (package name: flight-of-the-amazon-queen)
To actually make use of ScummVM, you'll have to install one of these, or obtain the proprietary game data for another supported game from somewhere else.
However their list of "compatible games" can be found here. This shows that almost all the compatible games are nonfree. If a user wants to run either of those two free games (beneath-a-steel-sky or flight-of-the-amazon-queen) they should just install the packages from our package manager. There is no reason to have scumvm in our repos.

I am currently making a list of GFSD bugs to be fixed for the next release. I will add this to the list.

It has been brought to my attention that there are other free software games for scummvm such as Draci.

The description is still a critical bug because it includes a number of non-free recommendations. Such as

"To actually make use of ScummVM, you'll have to install one of these, or obtain the proprietary game data for another supported game from somewhere else."

ScummVM is a `virtual machine' for several classic graphical point-and-click adventure games. It is designed to run Adventure Soft's Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2, Revolution's Beneath A Steel Sky, and games based on LucasArts' SCUMM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) system. SCUMM is used for many games, including Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max and more. See the official compatibility list at <http://www.scummvm.org/compatibility.php> for a full list of supported games.

Maybe we could whitelist the program to only be able to install known free programs that are compatible.

You should have read my posts better. You turned them into a bit of a mess.

Flight of the Amazon Queen and Beneath a Steel Sky are nonfree, they must be removed. Draci isn't a game, it's an engine for Dračí Historie/Dragon History a free game i was unaware of (http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Dragon_History).
These are great news. These means that ScummVM can stay, it only needs to be cleaned.
