Is an interesting suggestion, but we will keep XFCE for our mini edition. XFCE is well balanced between functionality, size and requirements, being more user friendly than LXDE.
LXDE is very useful for older computers, but only for those in where you cannot easily use the live cd and it's installer. If we manage to publish a netinstall cd in the future, then we can have a "nano" edition with LXDE and very lightweight apps.
