I can't add to my post from 2015 as it is now locked, back in the day I was running Trisquel 7 on an old netbook and the graphics were stuttering, (unless you kept moving the mouse all the time)this is just an update as I still have the same old machine, I ran Flidas and now Etiona, can't upgrade any more as Trisquel 9 was the last version to support 32 bit.
Anyway, for those having the issues I had they are the same in Trisquel 8 and 9. If you go to etc/default/grub the middle section should look like this:

GRUB_DEFAULT=0
GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=hidden
GRUB_TIMEOUT=0
GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR=`lsb_release -i -s 2> /dev/null || echo Debian`
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash nolapic_timer clocksource=jiffies"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="usbcore.autosuspend=1"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="processor.max_cstate=1"
# Uncomment to enable BadRAM filtering, modify to suit your needs
# This works with Linux-Libre (no patch required) and with any kernel that obtains

The only lines to be altered are the ones beginning with GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=
and afterwards you have to do sudo update-grub of course. This is supposed to be a fix for the NB300 series but it works. It should all look like the above.

Hope this helps someone.....not sure what I will do when Etiona gets really old it's a great distro. This little netbook goes well with double the original ram and an SSD......mpv is a good video player for older hardware too.
