Version 8.0 was not available on the drop down menu so I had to enter 7.0 instead.
Problem is that while for example brightness keys work on eeePC 701 4G the volume keys do not.
xev outputs:

so all keys are recognized. They are also defined in ./config/openbox/trisquel-mini-rc.xml, for example:
/usr/bin/volume.sh mute
After googling I found out that in Lubuntu someone had to edit that configuration file to make the keys work and instead of execute -line he had:
amixer -D pulse sset Master toggle
I tried editing that to the configuration file and rebooting but it does not work, howeer, running that command in LXT Terminal does work, it does toggle the sound.
Sound control is working in Lubuntu 18.04.
Sorry for typos and also the website seems to remove the code tags, but basically I have the default configuration file and I can see that the keys are mapped there, for example XF86AudioMute.
