When first launching konversation after a fresh install, a window opens with pre-configured information to connect to IRC, with the following information already filled in:
Network name: Ubuntu IRC
Server: irc.ubuntu.com Port 8001
Auto Join Channels: #kubuntu
The above pre-filled information is found in the .kde/share/config/konversationrc in the following sections:
----------------
[Channel 0]
Name=#kubuntu
needs to be changed to:
[Channel 0]
Name=#trisquel
----------------
----------------
[Server 0]
Server=irc.ubuntu.com
needs to be changed to:
[Server 0]
Server=irc.freenode.net
Port=8001 (port 8001 will connect but I'm not sure if it's correct.)

[ServerGroup 0]
Name=Ubuntu IRC
needs to be changed to:

I don't know where the konversationrc originates before it gets dumped into the user's dotfiles.
>Port=8001 (port 8001 will connect but I'm not sure if it's correct.)
It is correct per https://www.freenode.net/irc_servers.shtml
