Revision of Trisquel Community Guidelines from Mon, 10/06/2014 - 03:11

The revisions let you track differences between multiple versions of a post.

This is a work in progress:

Freedom

Trisquel is a free GNU/Linux distribution. Users may audit/study, run, distribute, and modify Trisquel. And distribute modified copies. When we say that trisquel is "free", we mean that it supports these freedoms.

These freedoms are pre-requisites for liberty, privacy, and market-freedom.

Our community supports the Free Software Movement. Non-free software may slip into our system, despite our efforts. We will be vigilant, and will remove non-free software when we find it.

Values

  1. Trisquel resources are for free software only. Please do not distribute, recommend, or support non-free software here.
  2. All of our contributions respect software freedom. We prefer the GNU General Public License because it is the strongest free software license. Other free software licenses --like the GNU Lesser General Public License-- are acceptable in certain circumstances.
  3. Avoid certain misnomers and propaganda terms.
  4. Free manuals are an essential part of free software packages. We will only include documentation released under an appropriate free license. The manuals we distribute will not recommend or suggest non-free software.

Respect

  1. Discrimination: Don't discriminate against people based on age, gender, sex, sexual orientation, disability, religion, ideology, ideas, social class, nationality, race, intelligence, or any analogous grounds.
  2. Profanity: Express yourself without hard language (i.e. cursing). Social norms differ from place to place. Hard language can deter people from visiting our site, and from getting involved in our community.
  3. Personal attacks: We don't tolerate personal attacks here. We encourage discussion; disagree with others and challenge their ideas.
  4. Don't feed the trolls.
  5. Please report any flaming/flame-baiting.

Notes:gNewSense's Community Guidelines inspired ours. They license their Guidelines with the GFDL with no invariant sections.
