The Linux-libre kernel

https://trisquel.info/files/freedo.png

GNU Linux-libre is Free Software. It is a modified version of the Linux kernel that contains non-Free Software, software that does not gives us the 4 essential freedoms (See What is free software), and induces you to install additional non-Free Software that it doesn't contain.

GNU Linux-libre was first released by the Free Software Foundation Latin America (FSFLA), then endorsed by the Free Software Foundation (FSF) for use with 100% Free GNU/Linux distributions, and is maintained by Alexandre Oliva. Since 2012 it is a official GNU package.

The image that adorns this wiki shows "Freedo," our beloved Linux-libre mascot, coming out of the shower while holding a brush and a towel.
