Forum request: signatures

Since sticky threads are possible but not really used, I wanted to put some URLs as my signature with a couple of tutorials.
I personally see no downside to such a feature.
Since the forums are connected to mailing lists, you can accomplish this
by using your automated email signature, like mine below.

That means reading and answering to the forum posts by email? Would my signature appear if I don't answer from email?
EDIT: to the person who -1 my first comment, I can give you some more reasons to do so, since this forum's software is horribly archaic in terms of even basic functionalities.
I'm not even talking about the latest advances (whatever they are), just standard stuff.
EDIT: HA! I "+1" myself this time ;) ! And I insist: the software of the forum IS archaic. I don't expect much change though.
> this forum's software is horribly archaic in terms of even basic functionalities.
Site works great for me without javascript, hence 10/10, all the functionality I need :)
Just saying, I didn't down-vote you, in fact I'll up-vote right now since your post is neither spam nor offtopic/offensive/stupid/whatever
The forum software works, but my main concern (apart threads being locked after some time) is the access to knowledge.
It's all wiki-focused, which is both good and bad. I never ever think of looking for something in there. I just use the search feature. So I thought a few links in the signature, even linking to the wiki, would make a more visible help for some frequently asked subjects.
But to get there, I need to spend (waste?) time learning about mailing lists, which I don't care about. It's the first time in my life I've seen such a basic feature missing. It's only one small feature, but those little things add up over time.
So it works, but it's more like "if it ain't broken, don't fix it" kind of thing. Well, Trisquel is a bit like that as well (Abrowser has a weird diagonal since the update, and vimfx doesn't work anymore, and so on), because it takes a lot of time, which Ruben doesn't have.
I understand, but it's frustrating, specially as the flagship for free-software. Hence me calling the forum software archaic, and trisquel being ok, but often late on security, and sometimes lacking the polish needed to not get in the user's way.
But to be fair, it's an overall frustration with some GNU/Linux programs that are unreliable (I'm speaking of my love/hate relationship with Jitsi), but thankfully, most programs are both awesome, and nearly rock solid.
But again, I know it's hard work and that it demands a lot of time.
Anyway, all this is in reaction of someone downvoting my pretty neutral first thread (and changed his/her mind on the way, which means ther is hope).
But no worries with the downvote thing, I'm just saying that it's a lazy and unclear way to communicate. And it's exactly what you're saying, it's supposed to signal spam etc.
Hell, even I overuse it to upvote feature sometimes.
I get your point, hack&hack.
>frequently asked subjects
In the Spanish forum, which I invaded a long time ago with my pseudospanishblabla, we have a "frequently asked questions" page which we link when a newcomer asks for something obvious. Maybe we could just make one like that in Eng so as to not repeat always the same on those few same topics, like for instance, "is Debian libre, Is Firefox libre, How to view flash content etc etc"
Sure, Bannanna Magique ^^
..but I am talking about a single page that gathers all the most common stuff/issues/qstns and is then linked to the new user once he asks a common new user question. I think I'll translate the aforementioned Spanish page in Eng, it won't hurt.
I can help traducing this page from spanish to french/english.
Do you have a link plz ? Did you begin the english page ?
By the way, i'd like to know how the forum works, I'd like to build such a mailing-list bound forum on another website.
Sasaki
Since May 2016 i have been working hard on the French wiki and added 100 pages of documentation..(yes no joke!)

(mimmo had contributed before & HKR is working on another GnuPDF project to be included in the ISO Flidas)

Everyone is invited to add/remove/modify/suggest/
If there are any errors please correct them. I think we should add to the list of common new user questions. I plan to, in the next days. You are invited to do so as well.

I am planning on a gentle warm cave, all tranquillity and recollection ^^
Ok, I checked what you did SuperTramp83 and there is nothing to add to your english version.
On the french side we have this page https://trisquel.info/fr/faq wich can only be improved by asking someone to do it. I think this should be changed (as well as a lot of things on the wiki, like adding the possibility to comment the pages directly).
Unfortunately I can just read in French and understand some 60 %, but I can absolutely not write in French, which is unfortunate, for I have been planning to learn it for a long time now but never actually started, because lazy/busy :-/
I think we could add to the list I translated - think for instance of the "GRUB passwd question" which alone has been asked around here like 46 times in the last 2 years..
There are other common qstns, one just needs to think about it. Another one, off the top of my head is the "ATI slow furnace related questions".
ciao
