Intel wifi

Tried the latest V8 on my LG i5 AIO and it is great except no wifi networking is possible. This network is listed as Intel Wireless 3160. This is the only method I have to connect so unless I can download and install whatever is needed using another machine, I cannot run Trisquel on this one.
As I see here: https://h-node.org/wifi/view/en/1934/Intel-Corporation-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC-3160
This device is confirmed not working. The only way seems to buy a USB WIFI device compatible with 100% free software.
You’ll need a dongle or a router that has wifi and an Ethernet port.
I recommend this product:

Your PC has two USB 3 ports and your USB 2 ports, so I think you're likely to have a USB port available for use.
You may want to also take a loot at the other networking products ThinkPenguin has, including their router.

In case the other answers didn't make this clear, this is not a bug in Trisquel. The problem is that your WiFi card requires proprietary[1] firmware, so it will not work with any freedom-respecting distro.

Thank you for the information. I do appreciate the circumstances re free software but as my PC works fine with every other distro I've tried I can't really justify what is needed just to run Trisquel. My guess is a lot of other potential users will feel the same.
That means that every other distro you have tried is non-free. Since Trisquel is a free replacement for Ubuntu, including non-free software would defeat the purpose.
You are of course free to install whatever software you choose on your own machine (Trisquel doesn't impose restrictions like some non-free systems), including the proprietary driver for your WiFi card, but it would be against community guidelines[1] to help you do so, so the best advice I can give is to use a USB dongle. I have one, and it works great.

If possible, replace the Intel WLAN adapter with an Atheros one (no firmware needed). Otherwise purchase one "ath9k-htc" USB model, whose firmware is free (as in freedom).
I really know how to enable non-Atheros WLAN adapters (require non-free firmware) on GNU/Linux distributions with deblobbed kernels, e.g. Debian or Trisquel. But I simply cannot post the methods here because of the community guidelines.
Most Atheros chipset require firmware. ath9k_htc is free software but it does not support every Atheros chipset. Acoording to the description of the related package, it supports the AR9271 and the AR7010 chipsets. As far as I remember AR9170 and AR9270 work as well (they do not require firmware?). ath10k chipsets do not work with Linux-libre and other 100% free kernels, such as Trisquel's.
Intel WIfi needs non-free firmware that is why it does not work on Trisquel since running a non-free hardware WILL risk your privacy and security since you cannot audit the source code. If you can open your laptop you can replace it with a atheros wifi miniPCI or just a USB atheros wifi (much easier), you can find it in your local electronics shop.

That is true. However, more generally, you can only control the Wifi firmware (know what it actually does, modify it, e.g., correct bugs, share your improvements with the community, etc.) if it is free.
That Intel wifi card will most likely never work with Trisquel and free software.
As others have pointed out, you need a dongle that is supported by free software and thus Trisquel. This is the recommended solution if you can't open the AIO and replace the wifi card inside.
There's a workaround. You can get a router that has wifi and an Ethernet port.
https://www.tp-link.com/lk/products/details/TL-MR3020.html
This router most likely has non-free firmware. But it works just like an external wifi adapter without installing non-free drivers in your Trisquel because wired Ethernet connections are supported.
My post may come too late for BarFly, but maybe other users with the same problem could find it helpful.
A temporary solution for this can be using a smartphone that supports USB-Tethering. Establish a mobile data connection on the phone and connect it to the laptop (over USB port). On the phone display, a menu should appear that lets you enable USB-Tethering. After that, a wired connection should be established inside Trisquel automatically.

I wonder if this is better freedom-wise than installing the proprietary firmware for the Intel WiFi card. They'd still running proprietary firmware, just on the phone's WiFi card instead of the desktop's. Plus, by carrying the phone they'd allow themself to be tracked. Then again, I supposed that if someone has already compromised on these issues, stopping there is better than compromising again by installing additional proprietary firmware for the Intel card.

If they use mobile/GSM/3G/whatever connection instead of Wi-Fi in the
phone, and with pure Replicant, then the situation would be equal in
regards to the freedom of the software.

This is the only issue that I've had with Trisquel. Other than the wifi, the distro is absolutely wonderful. I'm about to buy a refurbished T430 and make it my Trisquel-book. Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet, and buy the dongle from TP...

I meant that you can use the cellphone's GSM/whatever network in
Trisquel, but I strongly recommend you to use Replicant in the mobile
device, otherwise you would have less software freedom than with a
dongle with FSF's RYF certification.
The problem is: even if one manages to use Replicant, all mobile devices
(phones/tablets/whatever) have bad modem isolation (there was a good
one, GTA04, but it's rarely found nowadays). In any case, you better
start with something free/libre, don't drop everything on the floor just
because the world isn't perfect. Stick with free/libre software and less
"open source" for whichever choise you make. :D
