Abrowser update issues

I have noticed after updating to the latest version several problems. Hang/freeze during downloads (caused by massive CPU usage spike, apparently) and unexplained blocking of webpage components such as google's captcha system. I also see that the privacy settings page has disappeared, but that's already been mentioned in another topic. Shame, that.
Anyone have ideas on these issues? Going to switch over to icecat in the mean time.

Yes, and I had the same experience on a friend's computer running
Firefox 64, so assuming we are talking about the same thing I think the
issue is upstream.

Do you have any privacy-enhancing addons that could be blocking the
reCAPTCHA? What other webpage components are being blocked?

Hi I have the same reCAPTCHA problem. I haven't experienced freeze/hang. I've tried disabling all extension and it still does not work.

Same problem here. Abrowser hangs for about minute when showing the open/save file download dialog.

I also have this problem but with Icecat.

I've noticed that Disqus comments aren't loading on any of the sites I frequent. Not sure how to fix that.

Also, on another computer, but not my main one, lots of websites are asking me to disable adblocker. I don't have any adblocker running that I'm aware of, and I'm not getting that problem on my main computer.

Trisquel 7 on both computers, btw.

What other alternative browsers do you suggest to install when abrowser doesn't work?

Thank you very much for your reply!

Wow, I'm having the same issue. It has passed a month and the problem persists. Nobody has open an Issue for it? I'm doing that right now.

I think it's weird nobody has post anything about it in some time. Did I missed something?

It appears like a known issue in upstream already:

Icecat seems to work for me. Hurray.

I guess it only works because the built-in Icecat package is 8 major versions behind the latest stable (52.3.0 instead of 60.3.0), which doesn't seem to be a good long-term solution :/

I wonder if there's a reason for Abrowser to exist. I don't see any security or other advantages in Abrowser any more. (There was a convenient "Spoof referers" option on the preferences panel before, but it's gone now and remains only on the about:config page.) Wouldn't it be better to maintain only GNU IceCat?

No, Icecat 60ESR works too (it's just not in the repo). This is only
seems to be a problem for FF64+

I guess some users might want to follow the regular Firefox release
schedule instead of ESR.

I have it too in 65.0.1 (64-bit). With the latest update, the Web Developer Tools > Console is empty too (no output log, no input possibility, just blank white space).

Just updated to 65.0.1 (64-bit) and hanging on downloads seems to be fixed.

However, the CAPTCHA issue is still prevalent. I can't log into sites like Bandcamp at all because of this.

I'm using 65 now and just ran into the download issue again.

Hello, I managed to circumvent the Captcha issue by disabling the tracking protection (the shield in the url bar). It's a bit inconvenient but at least it works.

EDIT: Oh I wanted to ask, why are the 3 buttons on Abrowser like this? (See pic)
I have a screen resolution of 1024x600 if that helps.

I have similar faulty icons with some GNOME applications, but not with Abrowser. I think it's usually related to the default custom theme coming with Trisquel MATE desktop installation. You may try another theme in System > Preferences > Look and Feel > Appearance > "Theme" tab.
