Asus Xonar STX under Trisquel

Anybody know if the STX will work under Trisquel? I've done a bit of research and really can't seem to find if it will. I know that'll work under Ubuntu but that has nonfree software.
Thanks for reading
You can try finding the components on http://h-node.org (look out especially for wifi and 3d) for anecdotal evidence or if you have access to it, make a Trisquel livecd or liveusb and try it out.
This is the great thing about live media! If your hardware works from
there, it will work once system is installed to hard drive. If
something doesn't work, from the live media session, no harm done...

I agree Dave. Do you have this particular piece of hardware already or is it something you were thinking of buying? If you have it already try a liveCD and see what happens.
I think you're addressing me?
I do not have the subject piece of hardware, but just offered the 'live
cd' comment as a bit of general advice. My experience before the days
of live media was very frustrating.

Hm, not on there.

Have you written to the manufacturer and clearly indicated you wish to
use this hardware on GNU/Linux?
It's important to do this so they get an indication of such demand. I've
found numerous times their support people may have unofficial support
information or reports of people using hardware in GNU/Linux. You can
also try to buy this from somewhere with a good return policy, and just try.

I should have done that, didn't think of that.
The different pages I found about the Xonar STX didn't show any external dependencies. Also most standard soundcards I am aware of (even USB ones) do not need any firmware.
I am pretty confident the card will work without issues.
May I ask what keeps your from testing Trisquel with the cards ? Are you planning to buy the card ?
At the time of writing I did not have the card, I have now ordered it online and should have it sometime soon. I'll post if it works on Trisquel when I get it, just for the sake of it.
Damn! I can't get it to work under GNU/Linux.

It's being detected, but no sound is coming out.
Can the other sound card(s) be disabled in BIOS?
Yes, the onboard sound has been disabled.
EDIT
Got it working now!
This one setting here was wrong so I changed that and volia, works.

Thanks all.
Awesome. You should report that information to h-node and include any information required to get it working with free software.
Just as a hint:
If you deal with multiple sound devices and pulse audio: pavucontrol is your friend. It lets you assign programs to a certain audio device and adjust the level.
