I was thinking of getting one to install Trisquel (hopefully 8 if its released soon) on before an upcoming trip and wondering if there were any recommendations or a list somewhere. I know the Acer C720 was pretty good, but it is a few years old now and I assume there are better Chromebooks for the price. If anyone has any tips or suggestions, that would be great. :-)

ASUS Chromebook C201?

It is compatible with Libreboot. But, you can not run 3d acceleration without blobs on Chromebooks. And ASUS c201 can not run wifi without blobs. +You need compiled Trisquel for ARM processor.

And Chromebooks are too expensive, compared to used/refurbished Thinkpad x200 or T400.

Sometimes you can find a c201 for 100$ from USA. But they are too expensive in Europe.

Yeah, I've heard about the C201 and since it is ARM, it may not be good for Trisquel but Debian should work: https://wiki.debian.org/InstallingDebianOn/Asus/C201

Its too bad the wireless is non-free.

Oh and I do have a ThinkPenguin USB for wireless so that could be a solution.

The bad, is that c201 has few USB ports.
