Hey, thank you so much for valuable and informative post! :)
Well, to be honest I have kinda made a decision, or two:

1. I will buy (probably) a banana pi, which is based on AllWinner A20. It's better hardware than Olimex board I was mentioning (dual core, more ram, better graphics) and I can get it in a near store by 40 euros. Can't get Olimex for that price.
2. I will delay this buy for a month or two (budget reasons).

However, I still think your input will be very helpful for me, since the same kernel and bootloader will probably be used. I have already successfully applied the deblobing scripts to linux-sunxi 3.4 and got libre version. It gave me two files for some reason, instead of one. When I tried to compile it it gave me a lot of questions, and I didn't know what to choose. Right now I will wait until I get the green in my pocket to buy it and I will play with it later then :)

Will it be ok if I send you an email when I start it again?? :)

Thanks in advance for all your help.

It's good that you thinking of buying a Banana Pi. You'll test it with free software and hopefully report back on how it works.

Seeing how to deblob sunxi-linux is on my TODO list also. Compiling linux-sunxi shouldn't ask any question, at least if you aren't making menuconfig, which isn't mandatory.

About the 2 files made by compiling sunxi-linux, are you referring to Image, uImage and zImage? I used only the uImage file. The other files are alternative packaging of the same kernel binary, as I understand.

Yes, send me an email when you have more info or want to ask questions. I'm interested in doing research and documentation on this kind of devices and how they work with free software.
