Boot Splash and LightDM do not work!

Hello, everyone.

Whenever I boot Trisquel Mini, whether it is the live CD or an actual install, it does not have the Plymouth splash. It uses the text mode. I have tried editing /etc/default/grub but the line already has "quiet splash."

Also, if I try to edit the files in /lib/plymouth/themes/, it does not even change the text at boot... Even if I change "Trisquel 7.0" to "silly bananas," it still says Trisquel 7.0.

Also, I cannot find a way to change my LightDM theme whatsoever. I've tried changing the default in /usr/share/lxdm/themes/, I've tried changing the Unity LightDM greeter in /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/. Nothing works.

So, in short, can anyone tell me EXACTLY where the greeter is getting its files from??? And how I can turn on the plymouth boot splash?

Thank you very much in advance to anyone who helps.

I have made a breakthrough discovery.

In /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/, you have to edit both .com.canonical.unity-greeter AND 90_trisquel.gschema.override. However, this is not enough. Afterwards, you must delete the old gschemas.compiled file in the same directory, and then run
sudo glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/
This will create a new gschemas.compiled based on all the other gschemas you currently have. Please note that the trisquel schema override and the canonical schema must not conflict; you have to edit them both.

So this solves the mystery of "How the hell do you edit Unity LightDM?"

However, there are still two more problems... how do you even change from Unity LightDM to Webkit or GTK+ LightDM?? I can't get that to work either, otherwise I wouldn't even be messing with this awful default Unity LightDM.

I hope this information helps others out there. On another note, I still cannot get Trisquel Mini to show the Plymouth splash at boot.

Hi, maybe try to reinstall plymouth.
And this (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Plymouth) might hopefully help.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately, reinstalling didn't help. It now doesn't show any splash at all; before, it showed the text splash. I tried editing the text splash, the logo splash, still it shows the same. I tried update-alternatives too, but it didn't do anything.

This is just a regular fresh ISO of Trisquel Mini. Surely I can't be the only one experiencing this?
