Just did a new install of Trisquel 5.5. I have tried signing into my Hotmail through Abrowser, Midori and Epiphany browsers. When I attempt to sign-in, the screen refreshes itself & won't let me sign in. Any ideas why?

This doesn't seem to be an inherent issue of either Trisquel, Arowser or hotmail.com. I could log in normally.

In the long run, you may wish to get a different e-mail provider, anyway…

Try to clean the cache, or better, press CTRL+SHIFT+P for Private Browsing, and try to access it. If it works only only with the second solution, then try to clean all the cookies, cache etc... If it still didn't solve the problem then (as an ultimate solution) remove the ".mozilla" folder on your home directory (PS: you will remove everything configured, like your bookmarks, passwords etc...)

Yesterday I had the same problem with Abrowser (with safe mode aswell). Midori in private mode solved the issue for me.

OK, thanks aliasbody! I moved the /.mozilla folder to the Desktop & it works now. Only reason I've hung onto Hotmail is because I've it had for so long, since 2000. No way to delete it that I can see, you just have to stop signing in. I suppose I should just stop using it. I wish there was a freedom supporting email available somewhere. Maybe I should donate to FSF and get a gnu.org email address?

Do you know Lavabit or Neomailbox ? (These are the recommendations of DuckDuckGo, and the founder Gabriel Weinberg plans to launch their own email service though it is not ready yet)

Neomailbox also runs on OpenBSD (almost completely free in BSD semantics operating system)

I suggest you try riseup.net.

/We encrypt traffic whenever possible./

When you send email from riseup.net to another secure email provider, the email is encrypted for its entire journey. (see StartTLS for more info)

/We don’t disclose your location to email recipients./

When you send email with riseup.net, your internet address (IP address) is not embedded in the email. With corporate email providers, anyone who receives your email can figure out your approximate physical location from the internet address included in the email.

/We don’t log your internet address./

Our commitment is to keep as little data on you as we can. Unlike corporate providers, we do not log internet addresses of anyone using riseup.net services, including email.

I'm not familiar with hotmail although many providers allow you to setup auto-response. What I'd suggest doing is setting this up and letting people who email you at that address know that it's not longer a valid address and then include what your new email address is.

Even when people forget and accidentally use your old hotmail email you won't miss it (provided they are reading there own email).
