I have a T400 with a dead/broken CMOS battery and a T60 with a working battery. Their FRU numbers are different, but the battery number (i.e. CR-2032/S7K) are the same as is also the connector - except the order of the wires are opposite. That is the black and red wire has changed position (on one the red wire is to the left and the black is to the right. On the other it is the other way around). Since this is DC the order of the wires is important, but I don't know how they are connected to the battery itself (i.e. if the red or the black wire is connected to the + or the -).

Does someone know if it is safe to switch the two CMOS batteries or not?

In the U.S. the red wire is the positive and the black wire is the negative, I would never recommend to connect the positive as the negative.
