Data Disc and Rhythmbox

I have two questions that I think might be related.
First, I have a HDD on which I store all of my data--my pictures, videos, music, and the like. I'd like for this drive to be automatically mounted when I boot Trisquel, and right now I've got it being mounted through a startup program command. In my other OS, I was able to go into the disc management and click a box to mount the drive automatically at startup. Is there any easier way in Trisquel to automatically mount a drive at startup than what I'm already using?
Second, my music is on that drive. When I first got Trisquel working, I loaded all of my music into Rhythmbox and played a few songs to make sure it worked. I had no trouble. Since then, even after a reboot, any time I try to play a song in Rhythmbox, nothing happens--no sound, but the slider doesn't even move. It simply does not play. Rhythmbox isn't frozen, as I can select other songs (with the same result), open and close menus, etc. But it won't play anything.
Could it be because I have my music on a drive that is being mounted slightly after startup? Or is there another reason why it wouldn't' work?
It also appears I can't play any of my movies or music in Movie Player, either.
Addendum: YouTube videos have the same response. So maybe this isn't a disc problem.
As for the first question, you just need to append to /etc/fstab, one additional line per partition on your hard drive. The whole specification can be read with the following command:
$ man fstab
Of course, editing /etc/fstab requires administrative privileges, hence 'sudo'.
As for the second question, have you actually made a lot of customization to you session? If not, you can simply remove the configurations files in your home folder. That will bring back the default configuration.
Feel free to ask for precisions.
Well, I haven't made any changes, but this morning, it all magically works... I'll keep an eye on this if it happens again to try and figure out what caused it.
EDIT:
Well, I found the cause of my problem. Apparently, running a program in WINE stops my media from playing and prevents my sound from being heard. The moment I closed that program, Rhythmbox started playing the file I had left it on, and sound returned to my YouTube videos.
Now that I know what causes it, is there a way I can prevent it?

sound/video stuff works. Most of the time, though, I don't get any sound
at all after I log in, and none of my media plays. The exception to this
is YouTube. I fought with Gnash, Lightspark, and GreaseMonkey with no
results. Finally, I simply disable the Gnash plugin from the browser,
and now YouTube defaults to playing the HTML video. The video plays, but
the sound does NOT.

soundcard is being recognized and is not being muted. But I can't figure
out any reason why my sound doesn't work, and why I can't play media
files (by "can't play", I can open them in Rhythmbox/Movie Player and it
just sits there).

Try opening the sound administration interface and investigate. Check
the application volume.
