Evolution hangs on boot

After my most recent dist-upgrade it seems that Evolution isn't
downloading any of my mail.
When I launch I see a pop-up showing all 5 of my addresses each showing
this message:
Scanning folders in 'IMAP server server.address'
and it will sit there for hours. I double checked the proxy settings and
ensured it was set to use system defaults, it was. On general
principles Itried setting it to direct connection (I don't use a proxy at home) and
still no bananas.
I ran in debug mode from terminal and get a few errors
jim@GNU:~$ CAMEL_DEBUG=imapx:io evolution
(evolution:26175): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to register client: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.gnome.SessionManager was not provided by any .service files
(evolution:26175): camel-WARNING **: Failed to initialize NSS SQL database in sql:/etc/pki/nssdb: NSS error -8126
When I start gnome-session from the terminal I get a whole slew of errors, but none of them look real relavant:
jim@GNU:/etc/pki/nssdb$ gnome-session

I'm not sure which database its trying to access
jim@GNU:/etc/pki/nssdb$ ls
cert9.db key4.db pkcs11.txt secmod.db
I did an internet search for The error code
NSS error -8126
And I find this https://osdir.com/ml/ubuntu-bugs/2015-10/msg19436.html
Which claims a System-D bug is fixed in Wally. I'm pretty sure Wally is newer than what Trisquel 7.0 is based on, but I am not sure if it is releant or not
Any suggestoins?
when things goes wrong its easier to remove/purge then reinstall the package(s) than fighting to repair. In your case, save your data, settings and/or export them first.
start your session
run gdb --pid evolution-data-server_pid
(gdb) continue
start evolution
then disconected and reconected from gnome
see if it's crashing
