I installed GNOME Boxes on Trisquel 7.0 and tried to install Trisquel 7.0 on a virtual machine. After the virtual machine booted from ISO, it just suddenly exited. (01.png & 02.png)

1. Has anyone successfully used GNOME Boxes on Trisquel 7.0?

2. Another question, on my machine, it is very difficult to read characters on GNOME Boxes (03.png). Does anyone know how to adjust font color?

Thanks!

try running gnome-boxes
from the terminal and see if you get any useful error messages?

Why GNOME Boxes? Why not a more established virtual machine emulator, like kvm
or qemu or even Virtualbox?

I know this isn't an actual solution, but to tell the truth, I haven't even
heard of GNOME Boxes, let alone used it.

"or even Virtualbox?"
you can use virtualbox but make sure to only use versions 4.1 and below as 4.2 and above is non-free software

Hi tomlukeywood,

Could you tell me how to use versions 4.1 on Trisquel 7.0?

if you want a pre-built binary you can find them here:
https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Download_Old_Builds_4_1

on this option:
Ubuntu 12.04 ("Precise Pangolin") i386 | AMD64
select i386 if you have a 32-bit PC and AMD64 for a 64-bit

but i recommend compiling it from source and you can find the sources here:
http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/4.1.40/VirtualBox-4.1.40.tar.bz2

I'm quite familiar with Virtualbox from my Windows days- personal preference
kicks in a bit. kvm/qemu is by far the king of the command-line.

Finally I followed the following

http://trisquel.info/en/forum/virtualbox-kernel-issues

and successfully installed Trisquel on KVM.
