Gnu Guix Ditching Linux and returning to the HURD

What does this mean? I thought this kernel was a dead fish.
Even hyperbola has decided to go with BSD instead of trying it.
I'm not a FS veteran I wondering does anyone know how hard it will be to bring this to life?
This got me for a moment too. Your link is incorrect. They did not announce it "today" (article date April 3). They announced it April 1.
Phoronix has reconfirmed its not a joke

They've issued no retraction and its still front page of their blog as of April 3rd.
Michael is confused. Yes, the Guix project are trying to support HURD, for Guix users who want to experiment with it. But that's not evidence that they are serious about deprecating support for Linux-libre at all, let alone in their next version.
Surely enough, the article ought to be published on Apr. 1st.
But I agree that Hurd (along with FreeBSD) is more promising than Linux. One important reason is that Linux(-libre) is licensed under GPL v2 only and cannot be re-licensed to GPL v3 or later for both historical and practical reasons.
I always felt like the BSDs, while each having their own benefits over Linux and each other, have been behind on the development curve, maybe because they stick so close to POSIX. It always felt like Linux tries to experiment and isn't afraid to do things differently. It's why I've always chosen it over the BSDs.
As for HURD, I've never used it unfortunately. It's something that I'm definitely gunna try out though. Also, what do you guys think about copyleft-next?

It was:

Notice the date people. That specific date is very important.
"They've issued no retraction and its still front page of their blog as of April 3rd."
That doesn't change that this is an April Fools' Day joke that, apparently, people are taking way too seriously. :)
