Hello Trisquel Forum!
My HGST HDD (from 2012~2013) are still having problem after time with being used on Trisquel 11 GNU/Linux~Libre
Now I need to replace with other HDD/SSD or even pendrive if model is good for things like operating systems.
But I don't know what models/producers will be the best, and I prefer buying in used condition
Is someone can help with that?

Greetings!

I often use MX500 line from Crucial, they are often reliable and SATA compatible.

A company called Backblaze has been keeping drive stats for years. Look at their data and draw your own conclusions.

I don't see any way to get the data from that page except to download a 1GB file that expands to 10GB on disk. Am I missing something?

That's the data. If you'd rather read there are also quarterly and yearly blog posts for whatever that's worth. It's all linked there.

OK, this 2024 review of drives is a good page to review:

The drives are getting huge. The newest Seagate drive is 24TB. I can still remember very clearly using floppies with just 1 to 3 MB.
