Hi guys,

after installing another Trisquel on my PC (my HD has a partition setting for 4 different distros), the GRUB thing got updated (it was Debian's). Ever since then, I can't log in on my old nice Trisquel I was using before.

I wanna access my Home folder, which has a partition of its own. But since it's encrypted (I do have the keyword), it "mounts", lets me access the folder, but then it has a file called "Access-Your-Private-Data.desktop" instead of its contents. I suppose this "Access-Your-Private-Data.desktop" file just kinda runs "/usr/bin/ecryptfs-mount-private" on the cmd, cus of properties and there's also a README file saying:

"THIS DIRECTORY HAS BEEN UNMOUNTED TO PROTECT YOUR DATA.

From the graphical desktop, click on:
"Access Your Private Data"

or

From the command line, run:
ecryptfs-mount-private"

But whatever I do, nothing really happens. When I double click the file, it opens blinks a terminal on the screen and that's it. When I run the command on the cmd this is what I get:

li@li:~$ sudo ecryptfs-mount-private
ERROR: Encrypted private directory is not setup properly

what should i do?

Does the system actually let you log in? Or do you boot into a root terminal (maybe using a recovery mode menu entry you enabled in /etc/default/grub)? Or maybe you use 'chroot' from a live system?

I would try try that command:
# ecryptfs-recover-private /home/li/.Private

I can't boot. I "boot" into a terminal screen. When I put the login and password, it then goes back to the grub's initial screen (the one showing which distro to boot in). I did not enable the recovery mode. But that's ok for me as long as I got my data back.

I'll try to install a debian distro once again and with that install the new Debian's GRUB. I'll let you know if the new debian's GRUB installation will allow me to log into that old Trisquel again.
