The most recent version of exaile is 3.3.1, but the version Trisquel 6.0 comes with is 0.3.2.2. I greatly prefer it to rhythmbox, but this version is a little glitchy for me. I'm aware this is probably a stupid question, but I can't figure out how to update it.

You can get the more recent version by grabbing the PPA from LaunchPad here: https://launchpad.net/~exaile-devel/+archive/ppa

Instructions for installing it are on the same web page, under 'Adding this PPA to your system'

Yah, that will work, and is easier; should have read down before hitting
that 'reply' key. LOL

Worked, thank you! Just out of curiosity, why doesn't Trisquel's updater include this?

PPAs are something unique to Ubuntu. They're usually more recent versions of software than is in the repository for that release of Ubuntu (or a derivative). The other use is to allow a greater variety of software to be installed than what is packaged in Ubuntu.

Ubuntu still has to prioritize stability somewhat, hence the choice of older versions instead of the latest. But in your case, the newer version crashes less. ;)

I'd suggest going to exaile.org, and getting the sources tarball. There
should be a text file, with dependences and such. Before building with
the included 'Makefile', make sure you have the build dependencies, with
sudo build-dep exaile

Go back to the directory where you extracted the exaile files, and type
'make', without the quotes. If you wish to have the newly-built exaile
as a Debian-style package (recommended), instead of running 'sudo make
install', use 'sudo checkinstall', this automatically makes a Debian
package, and installs the application. Note, you may have to install
checkinstall from the package system.

Last time I did this, exaile didn't get automatically put onto the menus
or associated with music. I opened the Main Menu utility and added the
shortcut, in the Sound and Video section. You can make the file
associations in Nautilus.

HTH,
