How do I make Gnu Icecat Private Mode the default?

Hi there!

When I run Gnu Icecat it's always in private mode. This means I have to open Gnu Icecat, then start a new private mode, then close my non-private mode instance. That's slightly annoying, but tolerable.

What's a real drag is that any time I click a link in an application that wants to open up a link in my browser, it does so by opening up a new non-private Gnu Icecat instance. =(

Anybody know how to make it simply open a new tab in my already existing private instance instead?

Greetings. If you're looking to make Icecat always run in private mode, then all you have to do is go to preferences>privacy then under history change:

Icecat will: Remember history to Use custom settings for history

You'll see a new option you can check that says Always use private browsing mode.

It won't show an icon or any indication (outside of checking the settings in preferences or testing it yourself) that it's in private mode after the browser is restarted, but it will be.

Any links you open up from outside the browser will then be ran in private mode since the browser will be forced to always run in private mode.

Thank you very much! I was confused by the fact that it wasn't telling me it was in private mode. But by clicking the little Onion icon and testing it and having it show as Tor connection established, I'm now confident that it is. =)

Thanks again!
