How do I play a .mov?

I have tried totem, vlc, and kaffeine and all it shows is a plain white screen in totem and kaffeine and vlc crashes. Thank GNU.

I tried playing a .MOV file downloaded from my camera and it plays fine (video & audio) using Totem movie player. What plugins do you have installed for gstreamer?

Thanks for your reply to f13ticket. I have the plugins installed by default, and looked through the descriptions for them but couldn't find which covered .MOV files. FFmpeg appears to be the most comprehensive though.
