Not caring whether they track you is beside the point.

Whether you care about the nearly complete perversion of your constitutional rights in this case is what matters.

Also, if you think that Adblock Plus is saving you from the three-letter agencies, you're very poorly informed on the subject.

While a search engine that does not store user data is clearly better than one that does, it still does not go far enough. We must decentralize everything all the way to the egde and not use a centralized system at all. Peer-to-peer internet search is available through things such as YaCy.

So, while StarPage is clearly better than using Google, it is important not to forget that it's not the solution, only a step in right direction.

If search doesn't have some centralization, then how will it work? Are people expected to be running a program on their computer to access the network like Tor? Browser plugin?

Go read up on YaCy, although I'm sure that's not the only way to do it.
