Is it normal to end up with only CLI when using text installer?

So I was doing the full disk encryption thing where you use the text installer (Trisquel 8 for this matter), and then go with the "guided installation with encrypted LVM".
When the installation was done I was left with only CLI, is that normal?
Never mind..
When you get to the point:
"At the moment, only the core of the system is installed. To tune..."
I forgot to check the "Trisquel desktop environment"-box

Seems like the installation fails when I try to check the "trisquel desktop environment-box". Perhaps I should issue this?
You should be able to select "trisquel desktop environment" and have MATE as your DE after installation. With the latest T8 ISO this did not work for me. I've already filed an issue
