It seems to be "graphics [at] gnu dot org" according to https://www.gnu.org/graphics/ . If it's not them, then at least they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Yeah.. made that one too. Problem is, as I don't know under which license the original background was released (contacted the author and waiting for a reply), my wallpaper is..hmm..how to put it lightly..
..extremely illegal..

When I made the wallz I did not think about that..
I just saw the background and had the idea of a beautiful journey of the gnu and little penguy.
P.S: If I wind up in jail, please send me oranges!

I'll go to jail with you don't worry. I darkened the wallpaper a little bit and upped the contrast so its not quite so harsh on the eyes if you're computing at night :)

But when you want understand really well computer , you must try it.
I think you didn't undertand my previous post.
I want to say , if it's possible for me or other people in trisquel's forum to suggest background's image in order to integrate them in future trisquel's background.
We can image this like competition for the most beautifull background (one or more).
(If have language mistake , tell me)

I'm sorry , for me , it was implicit to use free image (like freedom) if we will include it in Trisquel.
My idea , we create image from nothing or by reusing piece of free picture.
We can do it if image is free like freedom ?

see, when I saw the background I just wanted to make a beautiful wallpaper for me (been using it for months now) and I also shared it. I didn't remotely think about licenses. I tried to contact the author with no success. If you like it use it, but yeah it is much much better if you create it under a free license.

tx, but that is not true. The background is not mine. I just cut the penguy and the gnu, I colored the gnu black, I scaled both to my liking to fit properly the scenario. I flipped the penguy from left to right. I polished a little bit the grass where they are standing. All very basic GIMP work everyone can learn in a couple of hours.
The only really good thing is the idea - I saw the background and immediately envisioned this picture you see above. That is the only talent here..
Play with GIMP my friends - it's absolutely the most funny software I ever used.
Learn the lazo, the clone and the blur tools and you are good to go :)

I just built a new one similar to the one I made above. That one I just stick the two friendos on a (I presume being that it lacks a license) copyrighted background. This one is built using 6 images, 4 under cc by 2.0 and 2 under cc by-nc, so yeah the derivative work is cc by-nc 2.0. Yeah, yeah, I know, I know..
