I obtained a gigabyte g41m es2l computer. After flashing libreboot
a n8400gs video card does not work. The internal vga
works.

Will a n8400gs video card not work on
on a libreboot gigabyte
desktop? Thanks.

My understanding is that the PCI Express slot does not work with libreboot so you're limited to using the onboard graphics regardless of what you want to plug in to that slot. My understanding is also that it's supposed to work in future versions (whenever a new version comes out -- who knows when.)

Besides; video cards usually have non-free software inside them in the form of firmware. I'm not sure it's much of a loss. Using the onboard graphics avoids that problem.

Are people programming on libreboot for gigabyte?

The video card has dvi and
hdmi port.

"Are people programming on libreboot for gigabyte?"

I think the changes go in to coreboot and get pulled into libreboot.

"The video card has dvi and hdmi port."

There are adapters that exist. One for example plugs into to the computer's VGA port and audio out ports, and then sends an audio/video signal over HDMI (since HDMI carries both audio and video.) Just look for "VGA to xxx adapter" (with xxx being whatever interface you want to use; HDMI or DVI.)

But yes, a proper working slot would be useful.
