Can u recommend me an alternative for VirtualBox? I installed virt-manager, but I didn't set up a guest yet.
I noticed it has a daemon spawning on system startup, running permanently.
Can I set it to start whenever I launch virt-manager itself, or a guest?
Is it possible to encrypt my guests with virt-manager?
I like the built-in encryption feature of VBox.
Any other suggestions are welcome.

Have you tried GNOME Boxes?
I don't know much about virtual machines, so I don't know how well it works for your use-case, but that's what I use.

While GNOME Boxes is user friendly and straight forward, it lacks features.
Correct me if I am wrong. I only read about it and have not tried it.
