So my screen freezes once in a while when watching a video.
It consistently freezes when trying to use sweet home 3D.
Blender doesn't even start anymore.

So I first tested my HDD, then my RAM. Both are OK.
Then I check kern.log right after a crash.
It points to Nouveau.
Updates all done.
I tried with an additional kernel argument: nouveau.noaccel=1

sweet home 3D was stable, but any time I clicked in one part, the other part becomes black, etc.
VLC can start on its own, but crashes immediately when trying any video file.
I don't remember about Blender, but at this point it doesn't matter.

I also reinstalled the softwares.
Short of reinstalling the OS, what could I try ?

Btw, it used to work just fine.
Also, I reinstalled everything about mesa.

I don't know if it's related, I constantly have the following error when updating/installing anything: E: iptables: installed iptables package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1

You can try a newer kernel, e.g., from https://jxself.org/linux-libre/

Nouveau is part of it.

Already done, unfortunately.
Thanks for the suggestion though, Magic Banana.

Clearing the memory cache helped a lot (now, no more delays for displaying dmenu).
Still Sweet home 3D crashes the same way, even after reinstalling, but Blender runs just fine for example.
If it's just that, I'll stop using it.
But I need to test an extensive use of video and hoe for the best.

Yet, cache gets full rather fast, and stays there to the point of slowing dmenu display by a full second at least.
I don't think full memory cache is supposed to do this.

This is hard to figure out. I don't know which log I'm supposed to read, I'll study that first.
