Around 20 years before, I first ripped some of my CDs using Windows Media Player 7 and saved the music as DRMed Windows Media Audio (WMA) format. No wonder that they all lost in "digital dark age" because of DRM.
Around 10 years before, I learned this lesson and saved them in uncompressed WAV format. But I still made a mistake by ripping the CDs using Windows Media Player 11.
Today I found those WAV files unplayable using free software/hardware, too. It seems I have to rip all my CDs once again using free software...
Fortunately, it seems that those affected CDs were not lost. Let me re-rip them using "asunder" and see what happens. Hopefully they'll be playable using exclusively free/libre software.

You should try making a perfect rip using morituri/whipper (the rips are verified using AccurateRip - you need to set your CD drive's offset before beginning). These commands worked for me (I set the offset to +6):
whipper drive analyze -d /dev/sr1
whipper offset find -d /dev/sr1 -o 6
whipper cd -d /dev/sr1 rip

If the disk is not in MusicBrainz database use the unknown flag (-u).

I simply used "asunder" to re-rip the affected CDs with default settings. They are now playable on both Trisquel and my "rockbox" player.
Next, I would like to try "DVD Audio" image making. I have some high-quality rewritable DVDs and want to burn some DRM-free music DVDs.
