None of them work. Can you access twitter?
Thanks.
What is it? Can we eat it?
This also has a link to:
This instance is currently working: https://xcancel.com/
It will probably be killed soon enough, so enjoy it while you can.
xcancel.com does not work either. It stalls with a message saying verifying your request. I use tor. Can tor hinder xcancel.com from working?
xcancel.com is working for me right at the moment.
https://nitter.poast.org works too, but only with js enabled.
https://nitter.poast.org appears to work.
Follow your favorite Xitters from the safety of the mastodon tooting pub: https://bird.makeup.
birdmakeup does display posts. But not the newest posts.
rss-parrot + nitter.poast.org works for me. You need to mention rss-parrot in a toot with the link https://nitter.poast.org/USER/rss
E.g. to see the posts of the twitter user INAP_ES in your mastodon feed, yo need to write the following toot «@birb https://nitter.poast.org/INAP_ES/rss» and follow the mastodon bot rss-parrot mentions in his reply.
I had a look at https://xcancel.com/RaptorCompSys their last Tweet was from 2021. The birdsite is dead long time, Musk killed the bird and I stopped using nitter long time ago.
>"I had a look at https://xcancel.com/RaptorCompSys their last Tweet was from 2021"
It's showing tweets from 2024 - April 2, 7, May 6, 12 on that page right now.
>"Musk killed the bird"
Are you somehow implying that twitter was not a steaming pile of toxic garbage long before Musk came along? I would beg to differ. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and their ilk are some of the worst ideas in the history of human communication, and I would challenge you to make a case for them having ever had any redeeming value whatsoever.

Nitter faces the same obstacles as Invidious and other third-party apps that aim to help people avoid the DataFarming of legacy platforms.
"In January 2024, the Twitter API used by Nitter to fetch data from Twitter got shut down."
The Digital Markets Act has made it illegal in the EU for online platforms to use anti-competitive practices. IANAL but I assume this includes actions to prevent the kind of "adversarial interoperability" practiced by Nitter, Invidious, etc. It may also oblige DataFarming platforms to provide an official API to third-party apps.
There are huge gains to be made for software freedom if we can educate the public about the implications of the DMA, and support enforcement efforts against platforms. Even more so if we can get other jurisdictions to pass similar laws, and co-operative with the EU on enforcing them.
I don't have an example to check now but when using icecat rather recently (I installed it from Guix), I remember clicking on a link to some post on twitter and it opened successfully with some nitter instance. So it seems icecat has some add-on that can successfully find a working nitter instance.
