"The method, known as side channel attacks, allowed the FBI to recover information from the Department of Justice at various sites at home and abroad through backdoors built in. This was part of a virtual private network system."

Thank goodness Trisquel expells the proprietary blobs. If this what can be done with a "quasi-Free" system, imagine what can be done with a fully proprietary system. :P

I'm not too sure if the vulnerabilities were in the proprietary firmware, but yes it's great to be free. :D

I don't think this had anything to do with proprietary blobs. AFAIK, OpenBSD has no non-free software in it at all, though it is under a permissive license. The only reason RMS won't include it in his list of fully-free distros is because its ports tree recommends non-free software.

What's more, OpenBSD is supposedly the most secure operating system in the world (!), much more secure than even GNU/Linux or the other BSDs.

Yeah, the proprietary blobs were my best guess at how such a thing would be possible. Either that or the code hasn't been 100% looked at... (??)
