I thought the following problem was because I used an outdated version of T9 Mini, but the Magic Banana wrote that "it should work: please give the error message", hence this thread:

I recently used an August 2020 pre-release Trisquel 9 Mini live system from a USB stick. It always fails to recognize the WiFi, but this time I used a computer with a cable internet connection, which worked well without me having to do anything. I started Synaptic and was able to install four other packages (among them gucharmap), but not abrowser. I did not check if using apt worked any better.

Synaptic had this to say:

W: Failed to fetch https://archive.trisquel.info/trisquel/pool/main/f/firefox/abrowser_79.0+build1-0ubuntu0.18.04.1+9.0trisqquel74_amd64.deb
404 Not found [IP:[and then what I assume was my IP]]

I've copied the above error message by hand, so there may be typos.

$ lscpu
gave "x86_64" as architecture.

I should add that all this is not a problem for me, since I could simply use a live system of regular Trisquel 9 (instead of the Mini edition), which comes with Abrowser pre-installed. I just thought I'd let you know.

Today, I had trouble accessing several websites, including Trisquel.info. But if similar connectivity problems are to blame for the other day, then why did Synaptic successfully fetch four other packages, but not the abrowser package?

I don't know when I will be able to try installing Abrowser with a live USB of the proper release of T9 Mini (instead of the pre-release I used).

The reason I wanted to install Abrowser is that when I used Midori (T9 Mini's default browser), I was able to start a Jitsi meeting but didn't know how to grant it access to my microphone and camera, so if you know anything about that, that would be appreciated as well. Neither Jitsi, Midori nor Trisquel Mini had any obvious way to manage microphone + camera access permissions.

Did you run "sudo apt update"?

No, I forgot to. If that's a likely reason, this is probably a closed case. If and when I get the opportunity, I'll try it and report back here. Thanks.

Repositories don't always keep historic versions, so always "update" before "upgrade".

If your system is not up-to-date, then when the package manager tries to download the package from the server, it may be looking for the wrong version. According to the error message you got, it is looking for

https://archive.trisquel.info/trisquel/pool/main/f/firefox/abrowser_79.0+build1-0ubuntu0.18.04.1+9.0trisqquel74_amd64.deb

When I go to that URL in my browser, I get a 404. However, the current version of Abrowser,

https://archive.trisquel.info/trisquel/pool/main/f/firefox/abrowser_84.0.2+build1-0ubuntu0.18.04.1+9.0trisquel77_amd64.deb

does exist. You just need to run "apt update" so that the package manager knows about the newer version.

Success! As you all suggested, using the same outdated USB stick but doing
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get upgrade
and then trying to install abrowser works fine. (Of course, you wrote "apt" instead of "apt-get", but I don't know the difference and it works.)
Thanks and sorry for wasting your time.

Is there an easy way to export all my Abrowser settings, especially about:config but preferably including all extensions, without making an account with Mozilla?
uBlock Origin has this, but only for itself, also bookmarks are easy to export. Thanks in advance.

"apt" is a convenience wrapper around some of the functions of "apt-get" and "apt-cache".

Your Abrowser profile resides in ~/.mozilla/abrowser.
