Panel disappeard

Hi everyone,
After upgrading to Trisquel 11 from 10, I noticed upon restart that my panel has reset and now shows a 'No indicators' message.
I didn't add anything too fancy to my panel on Trisquel 10, but it had all the essentials, such as time, wifi, bluetooth adapter and one or two more things.
after playing around, I realized that I had to right click on the panel > add to panel and then add whatever I wanted.
It looks like Notification Area was the right application to add and then my bluetooth icon and wifi shows up on my panel again.
The icons look much larger than before. Is there anyway to revive my panel from Trisquel 10?
A fresh Trisquel 11 install should have a "Notification applet" by default, but I have noticed that adding a "Notification Area" may be necessary to display application specific notifications, like email client status.
Reducing the panel size will also take care of icon size: right-click on the panel and select "Properties". On my system, it is currently set at 30 pixels.
There's an extra package you need to add, that isn't installed if you upgrade from 10 to 11. A clean 11 install and all is well. I'm not at home just now to check but will report back once I'm back on my machine.
