I created a wiki for the Flidas release issues, it can be a starting point for those who like to contribute to Trisquel to help it release sooner.
Thanks Salman
Where can I learn on how to help :)
I can do the artwork for Trisquel 8.0 :)
I'm a graphics designer, I draw, do photography and a little of 3D.
I already have some ideas!
That's good, Trismegistos. Please do.
I also can help with artworks, just tell me what do you need what we are missing, 2D, 3D animation, infographics backgrounds pixel vector etc...
@Salman
How do we go about making a proper list of software to propose?
by categories (ie = software list proposal)
One thread per categorie
Software
Art work
ect...
cheers!
I suppose we do not have enough contributors. If we keep everything in one place it would be easier to handle them and then if we got a long list, then we can create a different wiki page for each of them. Feel free to edit the Wiki page as you wish.
Sorry I meant a thread on the Forum (seeing that there is several threads going) then the poposed software can be added to your wiki page
It might be a time saver for some to have a look at
https://urukproject.org/dist/en.html
+1 for Uruk !!
I heavily updated the wiki page.
I would remove nano from the list (https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/flidas-release-issues), as we already have Vim.
vim and nano are both installed by default in Ubuntu MATE 16.04 and also, I think nano is suitable for newbies not vim. Anyway, it seems that strikingthrough it is a better option that erasing it.
Can some of you please help Salman (who is working on the installer) & update the page with users proposals
https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/flidas-release-issues
I personnaly have no time actually ( i just spent 6 month working on the french wiki) and it's no longer possible for me to spend x hours per day on this project..
Update it with all the users proposal so far?
+1 for that! I can't get anything done in vim. Nano is great for light editing.
Nano is a very good editor for cli...I also like geany.
this is not true for the latest x86 release candidate
i also go immediately for nano on every new install but i had to install it manually on trisquel8 - perhaps this is just an oversight tho - i noticed several packages missing
I can provide some help with some desktop backgrounds (rogue-trisquel) on sorted colors (distributions based). Also I've made some tests-experiments with renewed custom icons.
In other hand I've read that there are some designers on the forum. Will be a pleassure to contribute together with differents approaches.
My design skills are very basics, little Inkscape and getting crazy with GIMP.
I don't know nothing about MATE but it's seems that provides a lot of themes.
Maybe is not a good idea to create custom Icons, buttons and desktop backgrounds for our dear Trisquel (reinventing the wheel).
But I'm pretty happy to answer the question from my GNU/Linux (other distributions) colleagues:
- What is your Operative System ?
Trisquel THE FREE OPERATING SYSTEM.
- The WHAT ¡ ?
THE FREE OPERATING SYSTEM
Pretty smart people (mainly programmers) who need another two minuts to react doing the question again:
What's that Operative System you Use ?
Trisquel THE FREE OPERATING SYSTEM. Recommended for the Free Software Fundation.
.... and I feal so good...
... that I wish to contribute in some way with you.
Thank you guys.

You may be interested in having a look at Fyre
(available in Trisquel repo) this software has been used for all previous releases of Trisquel

Fyre provides a rendering of the Peter de Jong map, with an interactive
GTK+ frontend and a command line interface for easy and efficient rendering
of high-resolution, high quality images

Another thread specifically dedicated to Trisquel 8 art work would be a plus ;-) :
Development of Trisquel 8.0 "Flidas" Software proposal by category : Art Work ?
Mangy Dog :)
Thank you for your suggestion of using FYRE. I forget it, after your reply I remember back that I used it years ago.
I think "I got you idea" on which is the compose technique on how to create those shiny backgrounds.
Yes I'm agree, another thread specifically dedicated to Trisquel 8 art work would be a plus ;-) :
Development of Trisquel 8.0 "Flidas" Software proposal by category : Art Work.
That's a good point, but if I'm not wrong, I didn't find any categories on the fora. Nor for FLIDAS, neither for other categories, being difficult to make any idea on what is happening in any specific field.
Anyway, I wish to hear your opinion-answer if it's worth it making custom Trisquel, splashes, icons, etc.. , or if by cons we are reiventing the wheel?
Salut.
Sticky this thread so it doesn't fall down in the thread list.
I'd also like to ask you please stop putting a generic password on grub for trisquel 8. This continues to be the most annoying thing on trisquel, thanks.
Totally agree!
Why use Transmission instead of qBittorrent? The later makes much more sense to me. I can use any of those but I rather qBittorrent. I Find it more complete and somewhat of and better option, with considerable more customization power. Again I can do with both, just suggesting that it might be an better option.
Another thing I like about qBittorrent is that it runs on Windows, so Windows users who have already switched their userspace to free software will feel at home once their OS is replaced.
In this way, you could make a "free software conversion kit" with literature, audio/video, free programs for the user's current operating systems, and free GNU/Linux distros that provide those same free programs that they have grown accustomed to.
This way, they can easily appreach conversion through any way that works.
I think I can contribute some coding/scripting and I would love to. Not a lot, but I hope that every bit counts.
Any hints on how to get started?
Maybe try to check here : https://devel.trisquel.info/explore
Thanks, I will take a look.
This should really be included.
Rubén should take a look at the queue of merge requests: https://devel.trisquel.info/trisquel/package-helpers/merge_requests
In addition, there is this issue: https://trisquel.info/en/issues/21603
This really really should be stickied
man, took forever to track this down.I'd like to request a dark theme by default like adwaita-dark or arc-dark.
i also prefer a dark theme - i dunno if one would be chosen as default but probably not the ones you mentioned
note that trisquel8 has MATE (not GNOME) as the default desktop - it does however come with a very nice dark theme called "dark mate" which is the most appealing default dark theme ive seen
