So when I download the Arm64 version of Trisquel 10 and extract it all I get is a file structure. What do I do with that exactly ? Copy it to an SD card ? Extract it to an SD card ?
It's not a user-friendly process. At least not until/unless Trisquel provides an installer for ARM devices. At the moment you're left with putting those files onto a storage medium, installing the kernel, creating users, etc. all on your own. Notice that the file is called "trisquel-base." The information online about "ubuntu-base" for armhf would also apply. For example: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Base
As you go through the process to get it all figured out it'd be helpful to set up a wiki page here on the Trisquel site to provide more detailed information for people, if you're up for it.
There are Debian installation images for RockPro64.
Could it be possible to install Debian and trisquelize it?

The straight Debian image gave me an issue with not booting after installing but i'm going to try this Debian image from "Mr Fix it" and see how that goes. Worst case i've got Manjaro working on it but long term i'd like a distro that offers full disk encryption and will allow me to install to an NVME during install. This seems to be a limitation of all u-boot devices I have seen so far as no distro I have come across offers these features for hardware that uses u-boot.

I'll give this a try when I get a couple days off and have some spare time. Thanks for the link.
