Reminder: Current version of Trisquel has software that is over 3 years old

Current version of Trisquel is 7, based off of Ubuntu 14.04 from April 2014. Trisquel 8 is still in alpha stages and is based off of software already a year old. Where is Trisquel 8 in final form? It is a big black eye in the perception of free software.
Can we just release the fucking thing already? Christ.
I'm pleased to get updates on my Trisquel 7 Belenos box. I'd like to see the multiple keyboard indicator/selector bug go away any time soo but all in all T-Seven is still quite usable. Abrowser is @ version 54.
I'm confident that the next release will come when it's ready to ship. The stupidest thing to do would be to let it out unfinished. If for some unexplained unexpected reason not, I'll try something else like Devuan, Parabola or Debian instead.
I'm also quite happy about my working TP-Link TL-WN722N wireless adapter. To install Debian 8 or 9, I'd have to plug in the ethernet cable from my router. Debian needs firmware to operate the chip.
Actually, the Debian installer prompts you for a firmware package to use. You can download this package and supply it to the installer.
Did someone mention devuan? It sounds like someone is calling my name encrypted....
Oops, sorry the mange dog is on my sniper cross sights scopes at 2500 meters and closing, acquiring target, activating the laser target acquisition for accuracy. Oops he is a mange corpse..
trisquel is not a mainstream distro, you can't expect to have hundreds of programmers fixing everything. It takes a lot of time. Belenos is a awesome distro, and I am hoping Flida will be as good, maturation is a important role in the production of anything that is good. Or maybe I'm just saying such things because the software I use doesn't need to be fully up to date...
Anyway, what I meant is that the long time is expected for such an community as this one.
Then just grab Debian Testing and watch out for non-free addons....
Or start helping; or stop complaining.
I did make a post about using Snaps to keep some packages up to date: https://trisquel.info/en/forum/trisquel-7-should-utilize-snap-packages-and-libre-host-them
There are various ways Trisquel could run its own Snap store like this: https://github.com/noise/snapstore
I don't think Ruben is moved by your complaining. He probably never reads this thread.
While I'd welcome Flidas and admit it's a little bit overdue, there really is nothing we can do about it unless we contribute.
Bear in mind that even though the LTS version T8 is based on is a year old it will also be supported until 2021. That's a good long while down the road so when it's finally done it will be a long time before absolutely needing replacement.
I believe Trisquel is a mixed-use distribution which is meant to be used for both a desktop and server. It is meant to be used by individuals, schools and businesses alike. Many of it's users are looking for stability and quality and not just the latest features.
Just my two cents.
Stable = old
Yes, I know! Isn't it great?
Trisquel is a beautiful hand crafted GNU/Linux Libre distribution..i wish happy summer holidays to Ruben aka Quidam, yes well deserved holidays..
