Stopping the gui updater?

Hi,

I prefer to use the commandline tools for maintaining my system, so, I
went into the settings for the gui updater, and set the frequency to
'never'. It still comes up every day, and I dismiss it. Furthermore,
it wants to upgrade packages that show as held back in the commandline
apt tools. Should I file an issue, or is this how things are supposed
to work?

Cheers,

Dave H.

It is started by the file "/etc/xdg/autostart/update-notifier.desktop".

Thanks, I've moved it to a new directory for these things I don't want
started by default, of which, update notifier is one.
