Hi.

A few months ago I could add and remove music to an iPod Nano 5G by just
adding files HashInfo and SysInfo at the iPodControl/Device folder in
the Ipod. But now it has become impossible.

I have even reset the iPod and even erased all files in it (system
files) to recover factory settings. But the music that gets recorded on
the iPod will not be seen by it once I disconnect it from the computer.
I can see the songs saved in the Music folder. That means that the
database has not been updated.

I have launched Rhythmbox through a terminal window. But I see no errors
on it pertaining the synchronization.

Have you tried syncing with gtkpod? I'm not sure if it will work with the 5G Nano, but it's worth a try.

Try Banshee. It worked when I tried it and even supported videos but I stopped using it as I added Rockbox to my iPod.

If Rockbox works with your iPod, it is not a Nano 5G. The problem is
with Nano 5G.

How about using Rockbox in that iPod? I didn't check if it is 100% FaiF, but surely it is much better than Apple's original system -- and surely will reproduce your music appropriately... http://www.rockbox.org/

Quiliro, on the http://gtkpod.org homepage, it says:

"The ipod nano 5th generation works if one song is added with itunes first"

Did you try downloading the latest version of gtkpod? (http://gtkpod.org/index.php?title=Download) The version in Trisquel's repositories appears to be 2.1.1, and the latest version is 2.1.4.

It used to work some months ago with Clementine and all the others. Now
it does not even with GTKPod.

I will try. Thank you.
