Hello everyone!
I hope this message find you in the best of health. I am having some trouble. I could have sworn that Icedove had a feature for minimizing to the system tray, but I can't seem to find it now.

Does anyone know if Icedove still supports a system tray icon? If not, what programs would you recommend to resolve this issue?

I've heard that BirdTray is around. Is it still the primary recommendation for Icedove system tray integration? If so, please let me know.

Thank you all so much in advanced.

Indeed, birdtray seem so to be the only option available, sadly for Noble (U24.04) it's was removed.

I don't know of any other tool, maybe GNOME/KDE (noble) has some built-in integration, or maybe not and users are expected to work on window mode only.

If you are on mate, you could add the mate-indicator-applet to let you know about notifications, Icedove included IIRC.

KDE does have notifications for Icedove and other apps. There's a bell icon in the system tray, but it can be hidden so click on the triangle arrow to show "Status and Notifications".

gnome-shell-extension-appindicator does this for GNOME. It is in aramo and in noble.

One issue with GNOME extensions is that they have no translation mechanism, even the preinstalled ones by default :(

Hello again,

Sorry, I just realized that when I mentioned: mate-indicator-applet

Actually what I meant was: ayatana-indicator-notifications

That will provide with a notification history applet icon.
