Trisquel 6.0

Is there any information available regarding the development of trisquel 6.0?
I think this time trisquel may fail to release 6.0 version on free software day.
It would be better if trisquel release 6.0 LTS version on free software day .
Well, here's what you have to think about:
Would you rather have Trisquel rushed to be released on free software day, or would you rather wait a little bit longer and have a more stable, complete new version of Trisquel?
Even if it doesn't get released on free software day, I'd rather have a fully functional operating system rather than a buggy, rushed one.
True. I think the release is dependent on Rubén completing it rather than there being a definite day. At least if the last release suggests anything. That release was delayed quite some time after its announcement at LibrePlant. LibrePlanet was the target date.
I'm not saying that we need a buggy os.
If the development had started just after the release of ubuntu 12.04 , it was possible to release it on free software day as usual. But still now , even a beta version is not released.
You have to remember, the Ubuntu development team is /much/ larger than us. Taking Ubuntu and liberating it isn't an easy task.
Maybe- but there isn't nearly enough coming in to pay a full time developer. Until the community puts up more funds this is an issue that will undoubtedly continue. Even with a single full time developer it is difficult to get work completed by a specific deadline and not it have it be buggy.
Hint: become a Trisquel associate member if at all possible.

It also doesn't hurt to buy stuff from the gift store, donate occasionally, and get hardware from libre.thinkpenguin.com. The membership has the most dramatic impact though and is easiest on the wallet. The project has not hit 100 associate members and has a goal of doing so.
niyasc, what have you done to help release 6.0?
People can be so ungrateful...
While it would be cool to have a new LTS version, I feel like 5.5 hasn't been around for that long. Besides that, 5.5 is absolutely OK.
All in all, what needs updating, for the most part? Abrowser, the drivers, LibreOffice. To me, there isn't much else that needs updating. At least not that much.
Abrowser gets updated very well (my Abrowser is even newer than the Firefox that is installed on the Vista PC at work) and we have the repository for new libre-kernels, so waiting for 6.0 isn't that bad, Ruben can take time to make 6.0 the best Trisquel to date.
5.5 is a buggy mess and why I am still sticking with 4.0 until the next LTS. If the Trisquel team is trying to go with the Gnome 2 look, they either need to find more ways to hack Gnome Panel or switch over to MATE or XFCE completely. The current implementation is not working.
Will we see 6 anytime soon? Who really knows. This is kinda proof where free software projects lag behind when there isn't corporate backing or some Kickstarter campaign.
The original poster does have a point in getting some type of update on 6. For those that contribute money to Ruben every month... are any of you worried in how your money is spent when he isn't giving you updates. He does owe you guys some faith that this project is still somewhat active.

I have to agree - I contribute every month , not a lot but I'm an OAP so it would be nice if the developer did a "sticky" post occasionally (how much of his time does it take to post ?) to let us know what is happening.
Seems that my decision to switch to KDE was a good one.
I once installed 5.5 in a virtual machine, installed MATE, and purged the Gnome Panel nonsense. With some minor configuration, it looked exactly like the Gnome 2 based Trisquel. I heard that MATE may move to GTK3 and that sweetens the pot.
"I heard that MATE may move to GTK3"
Every gtk application, sooner or later, will move to gtk3. Nothing bad on it, it's just a version change.
For the moment we know it's called "Toutatis"
