Trisquel 7 consistently fails to add network printer?

I'm not sure this is the right place to post help requests, but...

Today I tried to add a network printer. I started by opening the system settings, selecting "printers", and pressing the + button. Clicking the printer on the list brought up a message saying "Failed: could not add network printer". A quick help search suggested the "system-config-printer" command and using CUPS' web interface, but the former doesn't exist and the latter demands I know the printer address and protocol (which I couldn't find on the printer, and isn't available from the list the original attempt brings up). I'm presuming this isn't a needs-proprietary-software issue, as Fedora could add the printer find using the generic driver.

Thanks in advance!

Maybe fedora has newer driver version?

I know this is probably an obvious question, but: How would I go about updating the drivers? Sorry- I'm not particularly experienced with GNU/Linux.

What printer are we talking about? For many printers, you only need to connect it by USB and it works.

It's a standalone communal printer/photocopier/scanner at my place of work (I'd ask tech support for help, but they only support Microsoft's OS). I'm not entirely sure of they exact model- if necessary, I can ask tomorrow when tech support are here- but the device has "Canon", "4025", and "ImageRUNNER Advance" stuck on the front of it if that helps. Sorry I can't give you more details- I'm really not experienced with these sorts of things. I'll do my best to provide any information requested though.

EDIT: A quick search with the information above suggests it's a Canon ImageRUNNER 4025.

Hmm, it's not on h-node. Can you add it to h-node (whether it works or not) once you find out if it works or not without blobbies?
