Remember this line from The Breakfast Club?: "Will milk be made available to us?"

In a similar tone of voice I must ask: "Will ARM be made available to us?"

Having heard Rubén say a few years ago that Trisquel will make an ARM port when there is suitable freedom-respecting hardware to run it on, has anyone heard anything about Trisquel 8 making an ARM port next year for the EOMA68 computers?

EOMA68 uses ARM?

I never heard about a Trisquel port to ARM. Every day I learn something new (sorry for my bad english, but I make that I can).

I'm also interested in knowing whether there will be an ARM version of Trisquel as I took part in the EOMA-68 funding campaign and will be using a device.

I have a question submitted to Luke Leighton asking whether the Devuan distribution contained within the "Numero Uno" EOMA68 computer is fully free out-of-the-box. As we know, Debian is free out-of-the-box as long as you do not enable the non-free repo. I'm not sure about Devuan.

I ordered two of these EOMA68 computers during the crowdfunding campaign, one the Parabola-based LibreTea and the other was the NumeroUno. I figured that I could remove any non-free software Devuan had by default and I like what I had read about how the Devuan OS was performing in Mr Leighton's tests.

Since Parabola and Devuan both obviously have ARM ports then we are justified in recommending them here among us. (If Devuan is 100% free that is.) Of course, we can't really recommend Devuan to a new user if non-free is 'recommended' or easy/unobvious to add.

Still I would really like to have a Trisquel Mini ARM port because of the obviousness of the message and the public stature of Mr Rodriguez within the community. You know when you see or hear an interview with him that he will be stating the case for freedom correctly. That is a great benefit to new people.

I'll let you know if the Devuan distro included with EOMA68 is 100% free.

I have confirmed that the Devuan distro shipped with the EOMA68 has no proprietary software. Also, as in Debian, it will not dissuade you from adding it after-the-fact.

I think that a group of expert Trisquel users and in processors architecture should port Trisquel 8 for ARM, Rubén is very busy now and I prefer that he works in new versions of Trisquel instead of port it to other architectures.
