Trisquel Mini Black Screen

I installed Trisquel Mini on a 2GB USB stick using the USB Pen Drive Linux software, by following this guide: https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/how-create-liveusb. The process completed successfully.
I tried the USB on a macOS-running MBP. I rebooted the machine (with the USB inserted) and entered the Startup Manager (which allows you to choose startup disks). The USB appeared as "EFI boot", and I selected it. The GRUB software loaded, and I chose to try Trisquel without installing it. After that, the screen went black, and I had to force shutdown the machine, as nothing seemed to work (though the computer was actually on).
I tried this process also with a 2GB SD card.
What might the issue be?
Any ideas anyone? I had a look at past forum posts, but couldn't seem to find any which were exactly relevant to my issue.
If you press Ctrl+Alt+F1, do you get some text or even a login prompt?
Their problem sounds like the same problem I've had with the last four Trisquel ISOs. For me, Ctrl+Alt+F1 does indeed give me a login prompt, from which I can login withh username "trisquel" and password "".
Did you try ?
$ startx
> $ startx
EE) (EE) Server terminated with error (1). Closing log file.e/trisquel/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log" for additional information(
xinit: giving up
xinit: unable to connect to X server: Connection refused
xinit: server error
what does
$ cat /etc/X11/default-display-manager
give you ?
Trisquel Mini has lightdm, if it isn't installed
$ sudo apt-get install lightdm
then try
$ sudo lightdm start
> $ cat /etc/X11/default-display-manager
/usr/sbin/lightdm
> $ sudo apt install lightdm
already installed
> $ sudo lightdm start
** (lightdm:2637) CRITICAL **: session_get_login1_session_id: assertion 'session!=NULL' failed
So, when the black screen appeared, I tried the Ctrl+Alt+F1 combination which made ~3/4 of the screen turn to the green/blue background with Trisquel logo, while the rest of the screen was distorted. Then, I retried the combination (because, although the Trisquel logo was glowing, nothing seemed to be happening) which gave me a command prompt that showed some errors on the top, but I didn't have time to read them because the desktop loaded shortly thereafter.
This doesn't seem normal behaviour, does it?
