I'm stuck on trying to ca.certificates package, this is what it says

:/etc/openvpn$ apt-get install ca-certificates
E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13: Permission denied)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you root?

what do I do?

Add "sudo " before "apt-get install ca-certificates". Or use a graphical interface (e.g., the "Synaptic Package Manager" in the "System Settings") if you prefer.

ok, that worked certificates installed, I verified with synaptic package manger as well.

now I'm trying to configure my vpn in network manager using password authentication, I've selected the server I want to connect to in etc/openvpn file. trying to find the cooresponding ca-certificate and can't find it. the file is empty for openvpn when looking for the certificates. How to do I find the certificate?

In "/usr/share/ca-certificates/mozilla".

i couldn't get that to work, following instructions on nord vpn in terminal didn't work but found this thread and worked perfectly. Not sure why the ca-certificates didn't show up when done in terminal with the nord vpn instructions.
